Thanks to its location, the new depot in Mošnov will enable seamless connection of the PPL logistics network to Slovakia and Poland, offer up to 130 new jobs and support the forwarding company’s sustainable transport strategy.

The leading parcel forwarder PPL CZ is opening a new depot near Ostrava in the village of Mošnov, which, thanks to operation of a modern 543 m sorting line, can handle up to 15,000 parcels per day. With its strategic location, the new depot will expand the forwarding infrastructure in the Moravian-Silesian region and facilitate international coverage thanks to seamless connection of the PPL logistics network to Slovakia and Poland.

"The new depot is located close to major transport routes, which will allow easier and faster distribution of parcels to a wide area, ensure more efficient utilisation of transport corridors, shorten transport routes and optimise international transportation. Thanks to modern sorting technology, PPL will provide faster delivery and in doing so better meet the needs and demand for forwarding services in this region. Thanks to the cutting-edge facilities and technological capabilities it offers, the depot in Mošnov aligns perfectly with our strategy.” says Petr Horák, CEO of PPL CZ.

The new depot, which spreads out over a total area of 19,000 m2, will provide employment to around 30 new members of staff, and another 100 people will find work in related activities in the field of transportation and warehousing. Over 60 vans will be used to ensure operations at the Mošnov depot.

Towards sustainability

The depot has been designed with energy efficiency and environmental friendliness in mind. LED lighting with daylight sensors has been installed in both indoor and outdoor areas, which not only reduces energy consumption but also minimises the carbon footprint created by PPL CZ. All newly opened depots are of course also prepared for charging of electric vehicles – up to 72 electric vans at the same time. The roof of the building is prepared for the future installation of photovoltaic panels in 2024, thanks to which the depot will draw electricity from renewable sources and supply energy to our other operations.

"As part of our commitment to a sustainable strategy, we have included a green roof over the office part of the depot as an additional eco-friendly feature. This part of the roof will be sown with seeds next year and the greenery will then contribute towards regulation of the temperature, improve air quality and reduce surface runoff of rainwater. The newly opened depot will therefore not only significantly strengthen our forwarding network, offer customers faster and more efficient delivery of parcels in the Moravian-Silesian Region and increase the level of services provided, but also support our sustainable carbon neutrality goals,” adds Petr Horák, in conclusion.
