Electromobility will prove highly effective in last mile logistics, especially in urban areas. Moreover, the uncertain future of fossil fuels, which PPL CZ is gradually moving away from, plays right into the hands of more environmentally friendly options. This is why the company is gradually switching to alternative energy sources which are sustainable over the long term.

The delivery company has 34 fully electric vehicles so far and is also testing one electric tractor unit. The gradual transition to electromobility is divided into 3 parts – construction of the infrastructure, investment in the fleet and planning the most suitable routes for electric vehicles. The electric vans operated by the company travel an average of 80 kilometres a day.

So far, PPL CZ has 50 charging stations at its depots, all from ChargeUp. It plans to have a total of 150 chargers by the end of the year. The company also uses ChargeUp CPO software to manage and administer its charging infrastructure, providing comprehensive monitoring of chargers and charging statistics. “I can’t imagine it at all without the software,” says David Voznička.

And what does the future of sustainability look like at PPL CZ? All of the new buildings which the company is building today have a special carbon neutral design. For example, they have smart control software such as automatic tilting of the shutters when necessary. Apart from this, the company plans to install photovoltaic power plants on its buildings in the coming years. And the fleet will not be left behind either. PPL CZ wants 60% of its fleet to be emission-free by 2030 and 100% by 2050.
