Expansion of the network to include an additional transshipment centre which increases forwarding capacity to half a million parcels per day, newly opened depots across the country and capacity bolstered by seasonal employees also contribute towards its successful management. This year, the mojePPL mobile app and an expanded network of pick-up points will make it easier for all the “Santas” out there to pick up their parcels.

PPL CZ, the leading parcel forwarding company, is entering the pre-Christmas season with 29 points in its transport network, including a new transshipment centre in Hradec Králové, which, thanks to its connection to the DHL network, has speeded up forwarding across Europe and the Czech Republic and increased capacity to half a million parcels per day.

We have ahead of us the busiest time of the year, when all of our employees and co-workers really do pull out all the stops, and this year we are more prepared for the onslaught than ever. In August we expanded our network to include a new depot located near Ostrava in Mošnov and in a few weeks, we will be opening a brand-new depot in the Central Bohemia region. We also have an innovative digital solution in the form of the mojePPL mobile app which makes it easier for end customers to send and deliver parcels, for example allowing them to pay cash on delivery directly in the app. Combined with our growing network of PPL Parcelshops and PPL Parcelboxes, this means that we are able to get parcels to their recipients in record time. With all of our services, our reliability and our flexibility, we want to make the pre-Christmas rush easier for people,” says Petr Horák, CEO PPL CZ.

PPL is ready thanks to reliable delivery directly to home or office addresses and expansion of the network of pick-up points

The daily volume of parcels increases by up to 50% in the run-up to Christmas as compared to the rest of the year. According to a Europe-wide survey conducted by DHL, more than half of Czech people prefer parcel delivery to a home or office address. PPL has been excelling at this for decades. But parcelboxes are also growing in popularity, preferred by almost a fifth of shoppers, and pick-up points at partner outlets are the number one choice for 22% of people in the Czech Republic, 12% more than the European average.

In part due to domestic preferences, PPL is also focusing on development of its pick-up points infrastructure. It currently operates a total of 6,000 PPL Parcelshops and PPL Parcelboxes across the whole of the Czech Republic, including AlzaBoxes. Sending parcels to or from abroad is also no obstacle for PPL. Thanks to its connection to the DHL network, PPL cooperates with international e-shops and has 100,000 pick-up points at its disposal in Europe within the framework of DHL eCommerce.

We expect the greatest onslaught this season around Black Friday and just before the Christmas holidays, with predicted figures showing that we are on track to break the 500,000 parcels per day mark this year. Operations will be bolstered with seasonal drivers and handlers. This is a very hectic time for everyone at PPL and I truly am proud of the fact that every year we manage to handle our main season with grace and this year will be no different. We are looking forward to this season again this year and are ready for it,” says Horák, in conclusion.

PPL has already forwarded tens of millions of parcels this year. The company also reached a major milestone in August, delivering its 500 millionth parcel since its establishment.
